noobs & pros
I've been wondering, what is the lvl where you turn from a noob to an avrage and so on. I want to find out when I can stop calling myself a noob. I might throw a party (is is a joke. Jeeesh)!

When you read 90% of the posts on guru and go "WTF!! Why is this poster so stupid", that's when you know you're not a noob anymore.

When you don't feel new to the game anymore. It's not like if you go from 19 to 20 or non-ascended to acended that you suddenly get smarter, wiser or hugely more experienced.

You are no longer a "noob" when you start complaining about the horrible quality of PUGs and end up doing the mission in half the time using henchmen.

If you're doing PvE, then it's when you are comfortable with making trips to Snake Dance. Thats when I really felt like I had developed symbosis with my character.

"noob" is only a state of mind.
if you dont have an ego that could crash the server, know your role in your team, actually listen to your team, and not blame dying on your monks (if it's your own fault) then you just might be mediocre |

Knowing what makes a good team for a certain mission makes you less noob. Thus, playing through the game can make you a non-noob, but not always. Also knowing your character's strengths and weaknesses, knowing when to fight and when to retreat, contributes to defining non-noobness.

The annoying thing I find about some people on GW is that, despite being Lvl20, sometimes I don't know the value of an item off the top of my head, so I get called a noob.
Perhaps the people calling me a noob are noobs. Perhaps the word 'noob' has now lost all meaning. This is a bit too philosophical isn't it. |

you are a noob as long as you call other people noobs, behave like an obnoxious little brat, go around insulting other people, decide to ignore the orders (or suggestions) of your party leader/members,...
Beeing a noob in a MMO is not about your skills, your level, your inventory, etc.. It's about beeing a mature person who knows the meaning of the words responsibility and courtesy. I don't care if you have 4 level 20 chars with uber equipment and know every single strategy and skill setup in this game. If you don't know how to behave, you are a noob in my eyes. Apart from the fact, that you aren't. Because I wrote earlie that calling other people a noob means that you are yourself a noob, so this would mean that I am a noob, which of course I'm not. Playing a WaMo is a pretty good sign that you're a noob too.... (sorry, couldn't resist ;o) |

You're still a noob when you aggro hordes of monsters unnecessarily and acting like you're invincible because you are level 20 with Droknar's armor.

I came to the realization that I was no longer a Newb when this happened:
After playing one evening for four hours straight trying to complete Elona Reach with PUGs and failing I decided to go to bed! Then the next day I grabbed a party of henchmen and finished the mission on my first try. Apparently I know what I'm doing after all, as for others... ... and I've never been a n00b. Nor will I be. |

Ultimately, who cares? Play the game and have fun. That's the point. And most totally new players are enjoying the game a lot more than those who've been around since beta. EDIT: Typo. Last edited by Driass Inaldu; Aug 02, 2005 at 09:13 PM // 21:13.. |
